Going to the Dentist sucks. ::c::
This morning we signed the contract and booked Gary's Loft for the Wedding in November. This is where it all starts...
See shots of the venue in my Flickr Set.

My stopover yesterday was in Chicago. I didn't get to see much more than a the path between Terminals B and C, but the brief visit coincides with discussions with Tammi and Dorla and Kevin about a summer trip out to Chi-Town. I have no idea if it'll happen as we will all be in wedding countdown mode by that point, but we'll see.
On thing I am sure of is that I am glad to have missed the weather there yesterday. With a low of 3 degrees, I can hold off for another couple months to get some deep dish pizza.
In other Chicago news, I picked up an issue of Chicago Magazine when I was there and found a piece on local Flickr photogs, including some shots by Chicago Eye, whose work I've been admiring for some time.

I managed to get back to New York yesterday afternoon without any problems to speak of. I am really happy to be home. I'll be even happier when the week is over and I can finally take some downtime. ::c::
It wouldn't be a trip to Aspen without a storm screwing up everyone's travel. So far, I'm on schedule (after my flight was canceled, then uncanceled) and waiting to board my flight.
more to come...

-The (very drunk) Hillbillies down the bar at Little Annie's
Before I headed out here, Eric sent me a link to an article from Food & Wine by Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson on what's new(ish) to eat in Aspen. So far, I've checked out 4 of the 5 places described. Hopefully, I will have some posts about them in the next couple of days, along with some others.

(Clearly this is quite late, but I don't want to delay a plug for Betsy until December. She's sells cool craft stuff here.)
This is one of a handful of stars that we got from our friend Betsy, who Tammi works with. Among other magical things, Betsy actually _makes_ yarn, which is one of those things I don't really understand. We picked these up at one of the craft fairs she attended over the summer.
The crafty stuff is Tammi's thing, but I really like these little stars. They've got different designs on each side, which adds a little variety.

This bit of news is way behind the times, but why not?
New York Magazine used a few of my New Year's Eve photos a few weeks ago in the "Countdown" collage.
Mine are the Cellist (above), the kids posing that I posted on the first, and of course, Tammi.

What annoys me most about the Green movement is that most businesses only seem to give a shit about the environment when it'll save them a buck.
Some say that the best way to get big business to be environmentally responsible is not through regulation but to show them how they can profit through it.
Enlightened self-interest may be at the heart of conservationist conservatism, but its logic still dictates that if polluting is cheaper, there's no reason not to do it.

Apparently in Aspen, Computer, Audio, Auto and Kitchen hardware is all the same. It's an odd thing, this one store sells everything from USB cables to drills to gardening equipment...

For those paying attention, I'm quite aware that my recent hiatus of 3 weeks came directly after I resolved to post more. As promised, though, I am back in Aspen and I already have a fair number of things to post about and plenty of time on my hands.
More to come...

My New Year's resolution is to keep up with the blog more. Expect photos and stories from Mexico, Philly, and the Holidays in the next few weeks.
And of course, my annual sojourn to Aspen is coming up as well. All that time not skiing or snowboarding ought to allow for a fair amount of writing time.
Happy New Year all!
